Dr. Amy Burcham is certified by the Texas Board of Optometry as a therapeutic optometrist and optometric glaucoma specialist. Her most meaningful connections throughout her career have been within the low vision community, empathizing with patients from complex and unique backgrounds, whose journeys have led them to seek low vision care. After a couple of years providing care as a general optometrist in the Dallas area, she seized the opportunity in 2023 to open her practice, Beacon Vision Center, focused on providing care for the low vision community.

Dr. Burcham was born and raised in Austin, Texas. She graduated with honors from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Allied Health. She then went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude from the University of Houston College of Optometry. During optometry school, she was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society and received the William Feinbloom Low Vision Award upon graduation.
Following optometry school, she completed a residency specializing in Low Vision Rehabilitation and Ocular Disease at Northeastern State University College of Optometry in Tahlequah, OK. Here, she regularly diagnosed and managed complex cases in acute eye care, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes, neuro-ophthalmic disorders, and hereditary pathologies. Additionally, she provided low-vision care to children enrolled in the Oklahoma School of the Blind.
While completing her residency program, she was awarded the Larry Alexander Resident Case Report Contest in 2021 through the Optometric Retina Society with her written submission later being published.
Dr. Burcham moved to Dallas, Texas in 2021 where she has been providing full-scope optometric care in the DFW area. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling with her husband, Brian, and spoiling their dog, Walter. They are also excited to have welcomed their first child, Jack, in July of 2023.
